video: Madsteez – Make The Difference

leave a comment »

November last year, Nike commissioned MADSTEEZ to create an incredible 80ft x 30ft foot mural (in just 6 days!) on the Nike affiliated Ricardo Montblan Theater (Hollywood) rooftop. The above video documents the production & execution of the mural showcasing Nike Footballs biggest stars…

I had just 6 days to complete this mural and although I thought it wasn’t humanly possible, I somehow pulled it off!……….The piece spans 80ft x 30ft and is on the rooftop of the Ricardo Montalban Theater on Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles….It’s one of my most proud pieces I have created….”MAKE THE D!FFERENCE” - MADSTEEZ

(R)Evolution of Urban Art  @ Warrington Museum & Art GalleryWarrington UK

Contemporary art seems to be turning more & more mainstream, giving it’s critics a field day. We could blame the commercial success of the YBA alumni or our street artists just selling out. Whatever it is there seems to be a constant wave of negativity from both the art establishment and its enthusiasts. But on the flipside of things something that is overlooked about the rise of contemporary art is the accessibility it offers to the average person who wouldn’t normally be seen dead in an art gallery or museum.
